In January 1998, after leaving full time education, Neal spent five weeks traveling around Australia and Singapore wit
h John Paul Martin. On returning to England he lived in Bournemouth where he pursued his passion for sailing, primarily around Poole, but culminating in summer 1998 when he was selected to be part of the crew that delivered a 48ft racing yacht from Southampton to Majorca - a month long journey.

On return, Neal gained work as a freelance designer for some local entertainment venues. Then in May 1999 he joined 'Personnel Risk Management Ltd' as a Private Investigator, based in Brighton. The company provides a pre-employment screening service to companies in a range of industries. In February and March 2000, he took five weeks off work, when he had the chance to travel around the world, spending most of the time in Thailand, New Zealand, Fiji & USA.

He left this job in October 2000, and flew to Canada where he worked as a mountain bike courier in Ottawa, Ontario - where temperatures range from +40 degrees C in the summer to -40 degrees C in winter! (the biggest temp range for any city in the world.) After three months of biking 50-70 miles per day, Neal wrote the word 'south' on the back of a beer carton and stood next to a freeway. 10 days later he had hitchhiked nearly 3000 miles to Florida! He boarded a plane, flew to New York before returning to the UK to plan his next overseas trip...

Later this year, Neal & two other friends plan to depart from Christchurch (United Kingdom) on bikes and and embark on an record breaking journey that will see them cycle through 26
countries, covering a total distance of more than 20,000 miles before arriving at their final destination of Christchurch (New Zealand), securing a place in the 'Guinness Book of Records'!
