The drill yard can be a dangerous place and safety procedures exist in order to make it as safe as possible. Part of those procedures are a group of words which every member MUST know what they mean.
 

 
REST
 

REST is an order given during a drill when the OiC wishes to point out a mistake or point of interest or learning. On hearing the "REST" all crew members will remain still. The counter command of REST is "CARRY ON".
 

STILL

 

STILL is an order that can be given by anyone on the drill yard as well as the OiC. It is given with maximum force when a situation of danger has arisen. On hearing the order "STILL" all crew members will remain still until the danger has passed. The counter command of STILL is "CARRY ON".
 

STAND FROM UNDER

STAND FROM UNDER is an order that is given whenever items of equipment are being lowered from aloft or debris are being lowered from above.
 

HEAD TO BUILDING

HEAD TO BUILDING is an order that is given, when, during a ladder pitch, the ladder becomes unstable. It can be given by any one the drill yard. On hearing the order "HEAD TO BUILDING" all crew members will endeavour to get the head of the ladder into the building to a place of safety. The counter command to HEAD TO BUILDING is "CARRY ON".
