Winter 2001/Spring 2002

The months since the summer saw an increase in activity in order to prepare for last years presentation evening & display. For the first time ever we invited potential members from the waiting list to attend the evening so they could see for themselves what they would be letting themselves in for. An award presentation followed the display with several members collecting certificates for a variety of achievements before the evening concluded with a buffet layed on by the stations cook. The evening was a great success and we look forward to welcoming the new members who showed a keen interest.

Following the presentation evening the years activities were wound down, concluding the year with a Christmas Party organised by the LYFF's.

Pictures Wanted ...
We have been busy creating photo archives from the years gone by, to date we have covered back to 1994 with the intention of having 1993 & 1992 online in the spring. If you are a former member and have any photos worth including let us know at the address on the left of the page. You may have noticed that we have no pictures from last year in the gallery yet either so the same stands if you are a current member. Ask your parents if they have an pictures of the display which we can borrow.

Summer Camp 2002
The dates for next years event have now been confirmed as the 12th - 17th August and is due to be held at Blackwell Court in Worcestershire. A wide range of activities will be on offer including Ice Skating, Rock Climbing and day trips out. We will give you more details nearer the time but it looks like the cost of the event is going to be £60 inclusive of accommodation and food.

Inter-Brigade Challenges
While it is still in its very early stages, we are looking into the possibility of visiting other YFA's from different brigades with the intention of competing against them in friendly games, be they simply team building exercises & ice breakers or more detailed fire drill related challenges. So far both Coleshill YFA in Warwickshire and Droitwich Spa YFA in Hereford & Worcester have both shown an interest and promisingly recce visits have been undertaken by instructors. We would like to say hello to anyone from either station who may be reading this!! We will keep you posted as to any further developments which may happen in the future.

Weekend Away
There was an activity weekend organised on the 24th-25th November. At just £23 the weekend was packed with activities and adventure, even if it was a little on the damp side. A review of the weekend will be displayed here soon. If you took any pictures or want to make you own comments on the weekend let an instructor know or email them to us.

Don't forget to take a look at our information and learning pages to make sure you know the difference between a LFF and an ACFO, or discover what could happen to you if you break the rules of the YFA.

and finally ...

... why don't you use the guestbook to drop us a line and let us know what  you think of the site, any improvements or extra features you would like  to see in the future or even something you have written which you would  like to be added to the site yourself. We are always open to suggestions!
