£15 up for grabs

 The West Midlands Fire Service are running a project that needs a name, which is where you can help.

The project is named at young people who have been in trouble with the police and have been sent to court.

We need you to design a name and logo for this project. They will be learning about fire safety and taking part in fire service drills.

The best idea wins a £15 gift voucher ... it could be you!

Entries can be emailed to us (use the link on the left) or brought to a meeting on a floppy disk or drawn on an A4 piece of paper

Welcome to New Members
We would like to welcome the 4 new members, Joe, Jess, Aaron and Dan who successfully completed the 2004 induction course. Well done on the completion and we look forward to you becoming fully active members.


Members ...
We are, as ever, building up the waiting list of members wanting to join A2 YFA, so we can run another very successful Induction Course. If you are interested in joining the YFA have a look at our  "Join Us" page, complete the paperwork and we will be in touch (and post here) when the next course begins.
 

Fire Displays
Once again the time of year has arrived when schools have fetes and community centres have family fun days, and as ever, A2 YFA will be making its presence felt in and around the Aston & Birmingham area.

If you have a family fun day or event which we have attended in the past, or even if you have never heard of us before but believe we would be suitable for what you are organising, drop us and email and see if we can help out ..... be warned, the diary is getting full!

 Design a logo for your Young Firefighters Association.

Needs to be easy to reproduce on material. Limited to 2 colours plus background on A4 size paper.

Entries can be emailed to us (use the link on the left) or brought to a meeting on a floppy disk or drawn on an A4 piece of paper.

Winner to receive a voucher for £20 to spend at a store of their choice.

Promotion Successes - July 2004
 Four of our members have passed their promotion exams, having being being successfully shortlist following a promotion campaign (detailed below). The good news recently fell through their letter boxes.

The youngsters will now have to undertake an interview to deem their suitability for promotion. Amber, Dean and Adam will all have a interview for position of LYFF, while Gemma will sit the harder YSubO interview.

Due notice will be given when these interviews shall take place.

Good luck to all involved!

Promotion Opportunities
There are promotion opportunities available the position of both Leading Young Firefighter (LYFF) and Young Sub Officer (YSubO).

The closing date for applicants has now passed, but applications had to be made in writing; detailing the following:
1) The fact you wish to be considered for promotion.
2) Why you wish to be promoted, and to which rank.
3) Why you believe you are suitable for the position you are applying .

Once an application is submitted, candidates will have to sit an exam and pass a formal interview, before being formally presented with their new rank markings.
