Activity weekends have been held at
many outdoor centers over the years

These weekends always involve a varied list of activities including abseiling, rock climbing, river crossings, canoeing, raft building and yet more assault courses.

In Stoney Middleton, Derbyshire events included pot-holing through a labyrinth of limestone caverns involving rope ladders, safety lines and torches with Derbyshire Cave Rescue Team. Other events included mountain biking, which involved as much pushing as riding, and a skirmish with a difference, using water pistols and coloured water. "Escape", as it was called, involved groups in competing a journey and then undertaking physical and mental tasks at checkpoints, the whole time taking care not to be caught by the "armed" patrols.

Night exercises which demand groups navigate around a course by torch-light always prove popular. Navigation and team building skills come together with our orienteering events which are held at locations throughout the Midlands including Sutton Park, the Lickey Hills and Cannock Chase. National events in which we have entered teams for many years, and on occasions won the top prizes, include "Who Dares Wins" and "Chasetrek" both annual challenges designed to encourage the qualities of leadership, initiative and team work under difficult conditions.
